Sri Lankan Table Tennis Players Take Part in the Asian Hopes and Challenges Week Competition in Amman, Jordan

On an invitation extended by the Jordan Table Tennis Federation, two Sri Lankan players took part in a table tennis tournament under the 12-age group in the Asian Hopes and Challenges Week Competition at the Sports City in Amman, Jordan, which was held from 14th to 19th September 2024. The players from Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Nepal competed.

The Sri Lankan players paid a courtesy visit to the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Jordan, J.A.D.S. Priyangika Wijegunasekara, at the Embassy on 16.09.2024. While welcoming the team, Ambassador Wijegunasekara highly valued the skills and dedication of the Sri Lankan players and their participation in the tournament.

During the competition, Ambassador Wijegunasekara thanked the Jordan Table Tennis Federation for the great opportunity opened up for Sri Lankan players to participate in the tournament and highlighted the importance of promoting soft diplomacy alongside traditional political and cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Jordan.
