Sri Lanka started bilateral relations with Jordan in 1965 and, established resident Mission in Amman in 1996. As the two countries enjoy longstanding friendly relations, Jordan is important for Sri Lanka’s foreign relations. Sri Lanka and Jordan’s relations are underpinned by diplomatic ties, close people-to-people links, as well as growing trade and commercial engagement.
