Sri Lankan Embassy participates in the 60th Annual Diplomatic Bazaar in Amman

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jordan participated in the 60th Annual Diplomatic Bazaar, held at the Al Hussein Youth City on 6th October 2024. The bazaar was organized under the patronage of HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal and dedicated to the noble cause of charity, specifically in assisting the Mabarrat Um Al Hussein Orphanage, which was established in 1958 by Her Majesty the late Queen Zein Al Sharaf.

The bazaar featured more than 70 stalls, representing 36 Diplomatic Missions based in Amman, showcasing a wide array of products in the fields of culture, fashion, food, and handicrafts.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka set up two stalls to display its rich cultural heritage through a variety of unique products. One stall displayed traditional handicrafts, coconut products, spices, batik, rush and reed products, Ceylon tea, Siddhalepa Ayurveda products, and Sri Lanka biscuits, cookies, soft drinks, organic dried vegetables, Kithul treacle, etc. The other stall featured a vibrant display of Sri Lankan cuisine, with live demonstrations of kottu and hoppers. Both Sri Lankan stalls were attracted by many visitors, and they enjoyed flavoured Ceylon tea.

Princess Basma, accompanied by Ambassadors and representatives of Diplomatic Missions, toured the bazaar, which features a wide array of handicraft products and traditional dishes from many parts of the world. While visiting the Sri Lankan stalls, the Princess expressed her appreciation to the Mission participating in the bazaar and valued Sri Lankan traditional products.

The bazaar, which is an annual humanitarian event witnessed by Jordan and reflects the meanings of gathering, cultural exchange, and pride in the humanitarian and charitable values. Its contents embody the heritage and cultural diversity of the participating countries.
